Specialized diagnosis and treatment for lymphedema,
Day surgery clinic

Our clinic specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and same-day surgery for lymphedema. We are committed to improving the quality of life (QOL) of patients living with lymphedema following cancer treatment by providing appropriate evaluation and individualized treatment.

The clinic is located on the 16th floor of the Abeno Lucias Building in Tennoji–Abeno, the southern gateway to Osaka. From our clinic, patients can enjoy panoramic views of Abeno Harukas, Tennoji Zoo, Tsutenkaku Tower, and Osaka Dome. The clinic is also conveniently accessible, with direct train access from Kansai International Airport without transfers.

We are a specialized lymphedema center offering comprehensive care, from conservative management to surgical treatment. We perform more than 300 surgical procedures and over 1,000 conservative treatment sessions each year, making us one of the busiest lymphedema treatment centers in Japan.

For conservative treatment, our team includes certified lymphedema therapists who provide comprehensive care, including compression therapy assessment and adjustment, as well as manual lymphatic drainage.

For surgical treatment, we utilize advanced medical technology, including the SonoSite Vevo MD ultra-high-frequency ultrasound system (FUJIFILM Medical), one of only a few units available in Japan, and the MITAKA MM51 high-resolution operating microscope, capable of magnification of up to 77×. These technologies enable highly precise lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) procedures for lymphatic reconstruction.

Using these state-of-the-art systems, surgery can be performed through small incisions of approximately 10–15 mm, with each incision requiring about 30 minutes.

Leveraging experience from more than 300 LVA procedures annually, we provide advanced lymphatic surgery using state-of-the-art equipment.

Ultra-high frequency ultrasound diagnostic equipment (SonoSite Vevo MD), high-resolution surgical microscope system (MM51) with a maximum magnification of 77 times, body composition analyzer (Inbody770) capable of measuring the water content of each part of the limbs, and ICG fluorescence observation camera system (pde-neo) capable of diagnosing lymphatic flow disorders Surgical treatment program for limb lymphedema after cancer treatment. Lymphatic flow reconstruction surgery in the affected limb increases lymph flow and improves lymphedema. High-quality lymphatic vessels selected using ultra-high frequency ultrasound are anastomosed to matching veins in two or three locations. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and takes about 30 minutes per location.

  • Lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) + combined treatment [OSAKA-ABENO LYMPHEDEMA CLINIC]

Lymphedema total treatment plan using lymphatic flow reconstruction surgery and combined treatment

Ultra-high frequency ultrasound diagnostic equipment (SonoSite Vevo MD), high-resolution surgical microscope system (MM51) with a maximum magnification of 77 times, body composition analyzer (Inbody770) capable of measuring the water content of each part of the limbs, and ICG fluorescence observation camera system (pde-neo) capable of diagnosing lymphatic flow disorders Surgery + combined treatment program for limb lymphedema after cancer treatment. Lymph flow is increased and lymphedema is improved by lymphatic reconstruction surgery in the affected limb. High-quality lymphatic vessels selected using ultra-high frequency ultrasound are anastomosed to suitable veins in two to three locations. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and takes about 30 minutes per location. The treatment effect is further enhanced by combining intensive drainage treatment by a lymph therapist before and after surgery and adjustment of the elastic garment.
