- Facility details
- Our hospital is designated by the government as an advanced medical facility. This means we meet the requirements to safely provide high-level medical care and develop new medical technologies. On the west side of our hospital, the central surgical building houses 20 operating rooms available 24/7, making it one of the largest in western Japan and always ready for emergency surgeries. We also have two hybrid operating rooms for complex surgeries under general anesthesia with imaging guidance. We handle about 13,000 surgeries annually, including urgent procedures and emergency C-sections.
In July 2022, we opened the Main Building A, which includes an Emergency Medical Center. This center accommodates around 10,000 emergency patients each year, providing critical care for severe cases. Main Building A is a hub for advanced medical care and hosts a comprehensive cancer treatment center on the 12th floor. This center offers support from hospitalization to treatment and home care for cancer patients and includes the Cancer Genomic Medicine Management Room, Genetic Counseling Room, and Precision Medicine Center with the latest equipment.
Our cardiology and neurosurgery wards include rehabilitation units to support patients' early return to society through continuous rehabilitation from an early stage. We plan to expand these rehab spaces further.
In July 2025, Main Building B will open. Outpatient services will move to this new building, featuring new organ- and disease-specific units. We will adopt a new medical mall approach, providing a one-stop service for patients.
With these initiatives, we aim to be a "super-smart and warm hospital." By using the latest equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize waste, we will shorten the distance between patients and staff, enveloping patients in a warm, human atmosphere. Finally, as part of "Takatsuki, the Advanced Healthcare City," we provide cutting-edge medical care and support local healthcare. As a key medical provider for the entire Hokusetsu Region (Northern Osaka Region), we will continue to deliver safe, high-quality healthcare.
Available Programs

Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer [Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital]
We provide diagnosis and treatment for pancreatic and biliary diseases using state-of-the-art advanced medical technologies.
Equipped with the latest ERCP and EUS-dedicated endoscopes. We perform one of the highest numbers of pancreaticobiliary endoscopic examinations and treatments in Japan. Our expertise in histological diagnosis and drainage procedures for pancreatic and biliary cancers is internationally recognized, and our specialists are frequently invited to conduct live endoscopic demonstrations worldwide. We also have extensive experience in endoscopic tumor ablation and cholangioscopy-guided lithotripsy. English-language support is available. When a mass lesion is identified, histological diagnosis is performed using endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA). In cases where no mass is detected on endoscopic ultrasound but pancreatic cancer is still suspected, diagnostic evaluation using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is performed to differentiate carcinoma in situ.

Treatment of Bile Duct and Pancreatic Duct Stones [Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital]
We provide diagnosis and treatment for pancreaticobiliary diseases using state-of-the-art advanced medical technologies.
Equipped with the latest ERCP- and EUS-dedicated endoscopic systems. We perform one of the highest volumes of pancreaticobiliary endoscopic examinations and treatments in Japan. Our histological diagnosis and drainage procedures for pancreaticobiliary cancers are internationally recognized, and our specialists are frequently invited to participate in live endoscopic demonstrations worldwide. We also have extensive experience in endoscopic tumor ablation and cholangioscopy-guided lithotripsy. English-language support is available. Removal of bile duct stones and pancreatic stones is performed under ERCP guidance. For cases in which conventional stone extraction is difficult, electrohydraulic lithotripsy is performed. In patients with surgically reconstructed gastrointestinal anatomy, stone treatment is carried out after endoscopic ultrasound-guided drainage.

Radiofrequency Ablation for Bile Duct Tumors [Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital]
Our expertise in histological diagnosis and drainage procedures for pancreaticobiliary cancers is internationally recognized, and our specialists are frequently invited to participate in live endoscopic demonstrations. We also have extensive experience in endoscopic tumor ablation and cholangioscopy-guided lithotripsy. English-language support is available. Under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) guidance, bile duct tumors are identified and treated with radiofrequency ablation. To enhance therapeutic efficacy, this procedure is combined with chemotherapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors. Repeated treatment at intervals of several months is considered to provide greater clinical benefit.

The presence of tumors is evaluated using endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). The indication for surgery is determined based on imaging studies such as CT, in addition to defining the extent of the tumor using the latest cholangioscopy systems. Histological evaluation is performed by EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration or bile duct biopsy under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Biliary Drainage Procedures [Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital]
Treatment is performed by placing biliary stents under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) guidance. In patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma, multiple stents are placed to improve obstructive jaundice. For patients in whom ERCP is technically difficult, endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage is performed, in which a stent is placed into the bile duct from the stomach or duodenum under EUS guidance. The number of cases for this procedure is the highest in Japan.
