Biliary Drainage Procedures [Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital]

We provide diagnosis and treatment for pancreatic and biliary diseases using state-of-the-art advanced medical technologies.

Equipped with the latest ERCP and EUS-dedicated endoscopes.
We perform one of the highest numbers of pancreaticobiliary endoscopic examinations and treatments in Japan.
Our expertise in histological diagnosis and drainage procedures for pancreatic and biliary cancers is internationally recognized, and our specialists are frequently invited to conduct live endoscopic demonstrations worldwide.
We also have extensive experience in endoscopic tumor ablation and cholangioscopy-guided lithotripsy.
English-language support is available.

Treatment is performed by placing biliary stents under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) guidance.
In patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma, multiple stents are placed to improve obstructive jaundice.
For patients in whom ERCP is technically difficult, endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage is performed, in which a stent is placed into the bile duct from the stomach or duodenum under EUS guidance.
The number of cases for this procedure is the highest in Japan.
