Nanbu Tokushukai Hospital is a comprehensive medical institution located in the southern district of Okinawa Island. Aiming at "the society where the optimal medical treatment can be provided at ease to anyone, at any time, at any place", we are extensively addressing the highly-advanced medical treatment, care and welfare, and preventive health-care. A rooftop heliport completed at the new hospital in 2007 is an only heliport that operates a helicopter emergency medical service in Okinawa Prefecture. Now, patients transferred by helicopter can be more quickly moved to the emergency room or intensive care unit for treatment. We introduced tomotherapy for the ¬rst time in Okinawa in February 2012.
With respect to the advanced medical treatment, we are working on joint clinical studies on customized medicine and cancer vaccine, so-called Therapy of 21st Century. Our hope is that a dramatic development will occur in cancer treatment and preventive health-care, and people all over the world can equally enjoy the bene¬ts in the near future.

【Location】Yaese town locates almost in the center of south part of Okinawa main island and it is one inland town not facing the sea, which is sort of special. Three small rivers flow from east to west and a gentle hilly area extends between the rivers. The most part of the hilly area is a cane sugar field where villages are studded.

Extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL) for renal and ureteral stones（Nanbu Tokushukai Hospital）

ESWL does not cause damage to the body as it does not involve opening of the
abdomen.
Patients can receive treatment on an outpatient basis because anesthesia is not
necessary.
The use of newly developed electrodes enables more effective lithotripsy and shortens duration of treatment (about 30 min per treatment).
The new shock generator reduces pain during treatment.
In the case of small kidney or ureteral stones, outpatient treatment is selectable.
You can just lie on a bed during treatment.

Endoscopic surgery for renal cancer（Nanbu Tokushukai Hospital）

A camera, forceps, scissors, etc. are inserted into the body through 3 to 5 tubes 5 to 12 mm in diameter to resect renal cancer with help from endoscopic images.
Wounds caused by endoscopic surgery are smaller and less noticeable than those by open surgery.
Because wounds are small, pain after surgery is alleviated.
