Regenerative Medicine (Autologous Adipose-derived Stem Cell Therapy / PRP Skin Therapy)Clinic Shibuya(Yubikai Medical Corporation)

The clinic provides treatment using stem cells cultured from the patient’s own adipose tissue, which may be administered to joints, skin, scalp, or systemically, as well as skin regenerative treatment using PRP prepared from the patient’s own blood. These treatments are performed by physicians with a background in plastic surgery under regenerative medicine provision plans submitted to the Japanese authorities.

Program details
These regenerative medicine treatments use the patient’s own adipose tissue or blood.

■ Local Administration of Stem Cells
A small amount of adipose tissue, approximately the size of an azuki bean, is collected from the abdomen or thigh under local anesthesia. Stem cells are then cultured at a cell processing facility authorized by the Japanese authorities and injected into joints such as the knee, areas of muscle, tendon, or ligament injury, skin affected by age-related changes, or areas of the scalp with thinning hair.

■ Intravenous Infusion of Stem Cells
Cultured stem cells (100 million or 200 million cells) are administered systemically by intravenous infusion. This treatment is intended for patients with atherosclerosis, post-stroke sequelae, or chronic pain.

■ PRP Skin Regeneration Therapy
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from the patient’s own blood and injected into areas with wrinkles, nasolabial folds, or under-eye dark circles. Blood collection, PRP preparation, and injection are performed on the same day.

All treatments are provided under regenerative medicine provision plans submitted to the Japanese authorities following review by a Certified Committee for Regenerative Medicine, in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine. The medical team includes supervising physician Dr. Kengo Yoshii, a graduate of the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine with a background in plastic surgery, and other physicians.

Eligibility Criteria/Exclusions for Treatment
Patients must be 20 years of age or older. For osteoarthritis, the general age range is 20 to 80 years; however, exceptions may be made if the physician determines that treatment is appropriate.

Screening tests for infectious diseases must be negative, including HBs antigen, HCV, HIV, HTLV-1, and syphilis.

Patients must not be undergoing cancer treatment or follow-up observation for cancer, and must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

For joint treatment, eligibility for acceptance will be determined after review of a medical report and diagnostic imaging studies (X-ray and MRI) from the patient’s local medical institution.
Remarks
Treatment Schedule

Stem Cell Therapy: Joint Disorders and Chronic Pain (AS Medical System) — 2 Visits
Visit 1: Consultation, infectious disease screening (results available in approximately 2 hours), blood collection for serum, and adipose tissue collection (approximately 1 hour) are performed on the same day as an outpatient procedure.
→ Cell culture
→ Visit 2: Administration is performed at least 1 month after adipose tissue collection. Joint injection takes approximately 30 minutes; intravenous infusion takes approximately 1–2 hours. Both are outpatient procedures.
→ Follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months after administration.

Stem Cell Therapy: Muscle, Tendon, and Ligament Injuries; Skin; Hair; Atherosclerosis; and Post-Stroke Sequelae (CPC System) — 3 Visits
Visit 1: Consultation and blood collection for infectious disease screening
→ Approximately 2 weeks until test results are available
→ Visit 2: Blood collection for serum and adipose tissue collection (approximately 1 hour, outpatient)
→ Cell culture (approximately 4–6 weeks)
→ Visit 3: Administration by local injection (approximately 30 minutes) or intravenous infusion (approximately 1–2 hours), both as outpatient procedures
→ Follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months after administration.
For a 4-treatment package, the cultured cells are divided and administered over multiple treatment sessions.

PRP
Blood collection, PRP preparation, and injection are completed in a single visit. The total time required is approximately 1.5 hours.
Precautions / Contraindications
Patients with allergies to anesthetic agents used during adipose tissue collection or to substances used in cell culture are not eligible for treatment.

Anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and other medications that reduce blood clotting may need to be temporarily discontinued before treatment.

Because stem cell therapy requires a cell culture period, two clinic visits are required for joint disorders and chronic pain, while three visits are required for other indications. This may require multiple trips to Japan or an extended stay.

Treatment outcomes vary among individuals.
