This hospital, established in 1876, is a general hospital directly operated by Nippon Medical School and is one of the most historic and prestigious medical institutions in Japan. Opened in 1994, it has 28 clinical departments.
The hospital provides advanced acute care, including emergency services utilizing doctor helicopters for trauma, stroke, and cardiovascular emergencies. It is designated as a Regional Cancer Care Core Hospital, with all departments actively engaged in delivering safe, high-quality cancer care aimed at improving both survival outcomes and quality of life.
From 2015 to 2017, it was selected as a core hospital for accepting international patients, providing medical interpreter services and supporting both residents and visitors from overseas. In 2025, it was also designated as a subsidized medical institution for medical interpretation services.
