Cancer Genomic Medicine and Advanced Cancer Treatment【Fujita Health University Hospital】

By analyzing the genetic characteristics of each patient’s tumor, we aim to identify personalized treatment options and connect patients with advanced cancer therapies.

Treatment / Diagnostic Approaches
Comprehensive genomic profiling (cancer gene panel testing), multidisciplinary molecular tumor board review, consideration of molecular targeted therapies and immunotherapies, and consultation regarding clinical trials and advanced treatment options

Program details
In cancer genomic medicine, genetic information obtained from tumor tissue or blood is analyzed to identify information that may help guide treatment selection. Leveraging the research and clinical infrastructure of Fujita Health University, specialists in pathology, relevant clinical departments, medical oncology, and other fields work together to review and discuss the treatment strategy.

Test results do not necessarily lead to the identification of an effective drug or eligibility for a clinical trial. However, appropriate treatment options are considered for each patient, including standard therapies, molecular targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and clinical trials. If a hereditary cancer syndrome is suspected, genetic counseling will be recommended.

Eligibility Criteria/Exclusions for Treatment
The following information is required: diagnosis, pathology reports, diagnostic images, treatment history, medication history, test results, and, if available, information on pathology specimens.
Eligibility for consultation will be determined after review of the submitted medical information.
Remarks
Indications / Target Diseases
Solid tumors, rare cancers, and advanced or recurrent cancers for which selection of standard treatment options may be challenging

Clinical Departments
Medical Oncology, organ-specific specialty departments, Pathology, genomics-related departments, and Clinical Genetics

Applicable Areas / Organs(Other)
The primary organ and sites of metastasis vary depending on the disease.

Treatment Schedule
Referral and initial consultation → review of medical information and pathology specimens → necessary testing → multidisciplinary review by a specialized team → explanation of the treatment plan → treatment and follow-up.
The time required for testing and explanation of results varies depending on the type of examination performed.
Precautions / Contraindications
Testing requires prior confirmation of eligibility, specimen requirements, costs, and other relevant conditions. Genomic analysis has inherent limitations, and the results do not guarantee treatment efficacy or eligibility for any specific medication. For international patients, arrangements for specimen transport, informed consent, and the handling of personal and genetic information must be confirmed in advance.
