Autologous adipose-derived stem cell therapy provided under a plan accepted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. High-quality stem cells with a viability rate of 95% or higher, a low passage number (third passage), and 99% purity are administered by intravenous infusion and local administration.
The therapy is provided for conditions ranging from knee joint disorders, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, and dementia to facial wrinkles and sagging, AGA, and ED.

This regenerative medicine treatment involves isolating and culturing mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) from approximately 5 g of adipose tissue (about the size of two grains of rice) collected from the patient’s own abdomen, and using intravenous infusion (systemic administration) or local administration according to the intended purpose.

The treatment is provided under Class II Plans for Provision of Regenerative Medicine that have been submitted to and accepted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (knee joint disorders PB5260009 / osteoarthritis PB5240090 / diabetes mellitus PB5250050 / atherosclerosis PB5250051 / frailty PB5250049 / Alzheimer’s disease PB5260030 / chronic pain PB5240089 / age-related skin changes such as wrinkles and sagging PB5250055 / androgenetic alopecia [AGA] PB5250047 / erectile dysfunction [ED] PB5250048).

Because direct injection into internal organs is not possible, stem cells are delivered throughout the body by intravenous infusion. For knee joint disorders, they are administered intra-articularly, while for facial wrinkles and sagging, AGA, and ED, they are administered directly to the affected area. This makes it possible to address multiple concerns from a single adipose tissue collection.

Stem cells are “living cells,” and the quality of their culture and management can affect treatment outcomes.

At our clinic, stem cells are not prepared and stored in advance. They are cultured individually according to the scheduled date of administration. For each sample, a Quality Standards Certificate discloses our criteria, including a cell viability rate of at least 95% at the time of administration, high purity with 99% positivity for CD73, CD90, and CD105, and the use of highly active cells up to the third passage.

With safety as the highest priority, the maximum number administered per intravenous infusion is limited to 200 million cells (the actual administered cell count is guaranteed without inflation).

【Treatment Schedule】

【First Visit to Japan: 1 Day】
Initial consultation, counseling, and medical examination / pre-procedure blood tests (including screening for infectious diseases such as HIV, HBV, HCV, and HTLV-1) / collection of approximately 5 g of adipose tissue from the abdomen under local anesthesia (approximately 30 minutes; incision of several millimeters; showering permitted from the same day). This is an outpatient procedure, and hospitalization is not required. Total time required: approximately 2–3 hours.

【Cell Culture Period: Approximately 7 Weeks】
※For the second and subsequent treatments, approximately 4–5 weeks
Before release, the cells undergo cell viability testing, sterility testing, endotoxin testing, and mycoplasma testing. Only cells that meet the specified quality standards are used.

【Second Visit to Japan: 1 Day】
After a medical examination, the cultured stem cells are administered. Depending on your preference, administration to multiple sites can be performed on the same day.
・Intravenous infusion (systemic administration): approximately 1 hour for 100 million cells; approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes for 200 million cells
・Intra-articular injection into the knee (knee osteoarthritis / meniscal injury): approximately 30 minutes
・Intradermal administration to the face (wrinkles / sagging): approximately 75 minutes (topical anesthetic cream used)
・Administration to the scalp (AGA): approximately 30 minutes (topical anesthetic cream used)
・Administration to the penis (ED): approximately 30 minutes (local anesthesia used)
After administration, you will be observed at the clinic for 15–30 minutes. You may return to your accommodation or travel on the same day. Hospitalization is not required.

【Follow-up After Administration】
Follow-up evaluations are conducted at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after administration. The approximate period in which treatment effects may be noticed is 1–3 months.
※During the cell-culture waiting period, stem cell culture supernatant (exosome) therapy and PRP therapy can be offered on the same day for symptom management.

Eligibility Criteria/Exclusions for Treatment

・Age: In principle, patients must be 20 years of age or older. There is no upper age limit; however, eligibility is determined individually by the physician based on the patient’s overall medical condition.
・Patients using a wheelchair or cane may visit the clinic (the building has an elevator; the clinic is located on the 4th floor).
・Previous treatment history is not a requirement. This treatment may be used in combination with existing treatments while continuing oral medications, insulin, and other therapies (please do not discontinue any current treatment on your own).
・Providing a medical referral/information letter and blood test results obtained within the past 3 months (HbA1c, liver and kidney function, and infectious disease testing) before traveling to Japan will facilitate the assessment of treatment eligibility.
・For patients seeking treatment for knee joint disorders: Please provide X-ray or MRI images in advance (DICOM data recommended). Patients with Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) Grades 1–4, meniscal injuries, or a history of treatments such as hyaluronic acid injections or PRP therapy may also be treated after an assessment of eligibility.
・Patients must be able to visit Japan twice (or remain in Japan for the required period), once for adipose tissue collection and once for cell administration.
・For patients requesting local administration to the face (wrinkles and sagging) / for AGA / for ED: Patients must not have an allergy to local anesthetics or topical anesthetic creams. For facial treatment, there must be no active inflammation or infection at the administration site; for AGA, there must be no inflammation of the scalp; and for ED, there must be no active disease of the penis or urethra.
・As the Medical Director personally provides counseling and medical examinations in English, English-speaking patients may receive care without an interpreter. For languages other than Japanese or English, Chinese-language support is available within the clinic, or the presence of a medical interpreter is requested.

Precautions / Contraindications

・Patients who are HIV-positive cannot receive this treatment because cell culture cannot be performed.
・For patients who are positive for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HTLV-1, additional charges will apply for cell culture.
・Treatment may not be available for patients with severe hematologic disorders or active infections. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult with the physician in advance.
・Because cell isolation and culture begin immediately after adipose tissue collection, cancellation after the collection procedure will incur 100% of the treatment fee. For cancellations before adipose tissue collection, patients are responsible only for the cost of counseling and pre-procedure blood tests already performed.
・Please refrain from drinking alcohol and strenuous exercise on the day of adipose tissue collection. Fatigue or other symptoms may occur for 2–3 days after cell administration, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for approximately 1 week.
・After administration to the face (wrinkles and sagging) or scalp (AGA), redness, swelling, or bruising may persist for several days. We recommend scheduling treatment so that it does not take place on the day before your return flight or an important engagement. Please refrain from applying makeup, taking prolonged baths, using a sauna, or drinking alcohol on the day of treatment.
・After administration to the penis for ED, please refrain from sexual intercourse and activities that apply pressure to the area, such as cycling, for approximately 48 hours.
・As this treatment is provided as private medical care, Japanese public health insurance does not apply. Treatment outcomes vary among individuals, and complete cure of the disease is not guaranteed.
・We recommend avoiding treatment immediately after a long-haul flight and scheduling your appointment for the day after arrival in Japan or later.
