We perform same-day outpatient surgery to create a new dialysis vascular access (“shunt”), which is essential for hemodialysis treatment.
We provide both autogenous arteriovenous fistula creation and synthetic vascular graft shunt creation. After carefully assessing each patient’s vascular condition and dialysis plan, we recommend the most appropriate surgical technique and access design.
Drawing on extensive experience and expertise gained through more than 10,000 dialysis shunt surgeries, we aim to create shunts that can be used for a long period of time with minimal complications.
The surgery takes approximately 2–4 hours, and the total stay is approximately half a day, including preoperative and postoperative examinations.
The procedures are performed by physicians with specialized qualifications, including VAIVT-certified specialists and cardiovascular surgeons, who provide safe, high-quality shunt surgery tailored to each patient’s individual condition.

Eligibility Criteria/Exclusions for Treatment

・Must be a patient who has not yet started hemodialysis
・Dementia: Not eligible
・Wheelchair users: Eligible
・Patients with a history of psychiatric disorders: Not eligible
・Patients with other severe medical conditions: Not eligible

Precautions / Contraindications

１．The patient must agree that final eligibility for treatment will be determined based on an examination of the arteries and veins in the upper limb performed at our clinic after arriving in Japan. If the patient is determined to be ineligible for treatment based on the examination results, an examination fee of JPY 10,000 will be charged.

２．The patient must agree to entrust our clinic with decisions regarding the treatment plan based on the examination of the arteries and veins in the upper limb, including the surgical site, which side of the body will be treated, and whether an autogenous blood vessel or a synthetic vascular graft will be used.
