ICL Surgery for Myopia Correction (Implantable Collamer Lens)【Grand Central Tower Tokyo Eye Clinic.】
For those who wish to correct myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia without wearing glasses
For those who wish to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia without wearing glasses
This procedure involves implanting a small, thin lens inside the eye to correct vision. It is suitable not only for younger patients but also for those with presbyopia, offering lenses designed to address age-related near vision loss. Using detailed diagnostic data, we select the most suitable lens tailored to each individual.
The surgery is performed by a certified Senior Expert Instructor in ICL surgery (recognized by STAAR Surgical), of whom there are only two in Japan as of January 2025. Unlike LASIK, this procedure does not involve cutting the cornea. Instead, under topical anesthesia, the lens is inserted through a tiny 3mm incision. The surgery takes approximately 20 minutes for both eyes.

- Remarks
- [Indications / Conditions Treated]
For individuals seeking vision correction for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia without the use of glasses.
- Precautions / Contraindications
- After surgery, you may experience mild halos or glare, especially when looking at lights at night or in dimly lit environments.
Although very rare, infection may delay healing or, in severe cases, affect vision. To reduce this risk, you must use the prescribed eye drops as directed, wear protective glasses for the recommended period, and avoid shampooing your hair and applying eye makeup for a specified time after surgery.
To accurately measure your refractive error by eliminating temporary changes in corneal shape, contact lens wear must be discontinued before the examination:
Soft contact lenses: approximately 10 days
Hard contact lenses: 3 weeks or longer
If you have very high myopia, severe astigmatism, or other special refractive requirements, manufacturing the customized lens may take 3–4 months or longer before it is ready for surgery.
