Surgical treatment for osteoarthritis of the hip joint by artificial hip replacement.
Surgery is performed for osteoarthritis of the hip joint, which causes hip pain, gait disturbance, and sometimes low back pain. The primary surgeon is Dr. Atsuhiro Fujie, lecturer in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Keio University School of Medicine. The surgery usually takes two to two and a half hours, but it can be completed in about one hour under Dr. Fujie's direction. Hospitalization is for about 7 days. Most patients are able to walk well from the day after the surgery!
