Southern TOHOKU General Hospital is located in Iwanuma City, south of Sendai, and contributes to regional healthcare as a core hospital serving the medical area south of Sendai.

Our hospital was originally founded on neurosurgery, which remains one of the hospital’s core clinical departments today. In recent years, we have further strengthened our services in upper gastrointestinal diseases and cardiology, while surgical procedures in general surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, and urology are actively performed.

The Department of Neurosurgery mainly treats patients with cerebrovascular disorders and spinal cord/spinal diseases, with approximately 500 surgical cases performed annually. For cerebrovascular disorders, we actively provide endovascular treatment in addition to conventional craniotomy procedures. Spinal and spinal cord surgeries are primarily performed using minimally invasive techniques, with a patient-centered approach aimed at early treatment and early discharge.

Another major feature of our hospital is the enhancement of convalescent rehabilitation services. With more than 70 rehabilitation staff members, we have established a system that provides rehabilitation services 365 days a year.

We also accept many international medical trainees and exchange students, particularly from Asia and the Middle East.

The hospital is conveniently located approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from Tokyo Station to Sendai Station via the Tohoku Shinkansen, followed by approximately 20 minutes from Sendai Station to Iwanuma Station via the Tohoku Main Line or Joban Line.
