OHMI Sebone Clinic

Our clinic is a new facility that opened in November 2022.
We have state-of-the-art operating rooms, MRI, CT, X-rays, and surgical equipment, minimally invasive surgeries are performed by highly skilled physicians.

The director of this clinic is a medical doctor who is a specialist of the Japanese Neurosurgical Society and an medical instructor of Neuro-spinal Society of Japan.
We opened our clinic in November 2022 to provide more patients with spine disorders with the techniques that we have acquired through numerous surgical cases at university hospitals and clinics specializing in spine disorders. We have the latest medical equipment and operating rooms that are unthinkable in a private clinic, and perform minimally invasive endoscopic surgeries that require some of the best techniques in the country. Many patients are able to walk independently within a few hours after surgery.
In addition to spine disorders, we also focus on anti-aging and provide intravenous therapy for rejuvenation.

Available Programs

  • Full-Endoscopic Spine Surgery:FESS method

It is a generic term for minimally invasive surgery performed using a thin endoscope with a diameter of 7 mm, which requires a small skin incision and is gentle on the body.
It is used for decompression surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine. Day surgery is possible.

A ① guide wire is placed in the disc, a ② dilator is placed along it, and an 8 mm ③ trocar is placed over it. This completes the surgical preparation. An endoscope ④ is placed inside ③ and then forceps and drills ⑤ are placed inside it to approach the herniation, vertebral arch, and ligaments. The surgery takes approximately one hour. Because of the minimally invasive procedure, most patients are able to walk home about 3 hours after the surgery.

  • Microendoscopic discectomy:MED method Microendoscopic laminectory :MEL method

The MED method is an endoscopic discectomy, a surgery to remove a herniated lumbar disc using a 17 mm diameter trocar and an endoscope.
On the other hand, the MEL method is an endoscopic vertebroplasty (resection), or surgery to remove nerve compression caused by tissue other than the hernia, and is performed for lumbar spinal canal stenosis.

It is performed not only on the lumbar spine, but also on the cervical and thoracic spine. In both cases, nerve compression is removed using an endoscopic instrument specially designed for MED. The wound that cuts the skin is 17 mm, but this surgery causes less damage to the surrounding muscles than the smallness of the wound. Since the camera resides inside the body, it is possible to peer into areas that cannot be seen from above. During the surgery, images from the camera are projected on a 4K-resolution monitor, allowing for a good field of view. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately one hour, allowing the patient to return home in two days and one night.

  • Percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty(Baloon Kyphoplasty:BKP method)

The fracture is dilated with a balloon and then injected with cement.

The BKP method is translated as "percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty". It is also called vertebroplasty It is indicated in cases of subtle movement within the vertebral body after fracture, or in cases of pseudarthrosis where the vertebral body is clearly open in the supine position but closed in the sitting position, like the mouth of an alligator. Most cases provide immediate pain relief, but there are cases in which complete pain relief may take several days. Since the previously soft bone is suddenly stiffened, it takes time for the surrounding bone to adjust to the new environment. The surgery takes about 30 minutes. Local anesthesia is used. You can go home on the same day of surgery.
