“Advanced treatment hospital / Kanagawa advanced medical hyperacute care hospital / Regional base hospital for promoting hematopoietic stem cell transplantation / Regional base hospital for cancer treatment”
We provide advanced treatment and biopsy for prostate cancer with a focus on HIFU, which is approved as an advanced medical treatment in Japan.
We provide the following advanced biopsies and treatments for prostate cancer for medical inbound patients.
<“The BioJet System”, a 3D Prostate Biopsy System using MRI-Ultrasound Fusion Images>
This is the system for pinpoint prostate biopsy that uses 3D images fused with MRI and ultrasound.
<Local ablation and coagulation of prostate cancer using focused ultrasound device prostate cancer (limited to focal lesion) [HIFU]>
This treatment has more likely to preserve urinary incontinence and sexual function than surgery or radiation therapy.
<Robotic-assisted prostate malignancy surgery for prostate cancer>
This technique has advantages over conventional surgery, such as smaller wounds, less pain, and faster recovery after surgery.

“The BioJet System”, a 3D Prostate Biopsy System using MRI-Ultrasound Fusion Images【Tokai University Hospital】

An MRI image of the cancer site is taken in advance, and an ultrasound image used when a biopsy needle is inserted into the prostate is superimposed on MRI image. In this way, the system identifies the location where the needle should be inserted. Features: The "targeted biopsy" method using BioJet is a system that takes an MRI image first to confirm the site of cancer in advance, and then on the software, synthesizes the image superimposing the prior MRI image (an image in which the suspected cancer site has been identified) on the ultrasound image used when the biopsy needle is inserted into the prostate, which makes it possible to collect tissue efficiently and accurately from the suspected site. It has been difficult to confirm just using conventional ultrasound unless large cancers, and in many cases, only the location of the prostate and the biopsy needle could be confirmed. By performing an accurate prostate biopsy with the BioJet, we can avoid repeated and unnecessary biopsies, detect prostate cancer in just one biopsy as much as possible, and can advance to the next stage of treatment as early as possible. Hospitalization days: 3 days Actual results: 477 cases (as of December 2022)

Local ablation and coagulation of prostate cancer using focused ultrasound device prostate cancer (limited to focal lesion) [HIFU]【Tokai University Hospital】
※ This therapy has been approved as an advanced medical treatment by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, with our clinic as the managing facility.Local treatment of cancer using ultrasound. Focal therapy (minimally invasive treatment) that emphasizes quality of life compared to radical treatment that treats the entire prostate such as surgery or radiotherapy.
<Features> Local prostate cancer therapy using high-density focused ultrasound therapy (HIFU) for patients with a PSA of "4" or higher.Compared to radical treatment that treats the entire prostate with surgery or radiation, HIFU significantly preserves normal tissue and urinary function, thus it is a treatment method emphasizing QOL (quality of life) of the patients. It is more likely to result in less urinary leakage and to preserve sexual function than conventional prostate cancer treatments. In addition, treatment is available with repeated short-term hospitalization. Hospitalization days: 3 days Actual results: 186 cases (as of December 2022)

Robotic-assisted prostate malignancy surgery for prostate cancer【Tokai University Hospital】
Treatment of prostate cancer resection and removal using da Vinci. Minimally invasive treatment with low patient burden.
Treatment of prostate cancer resection and removal using da Vinci. Minimally invasive treatment with low patient burden. <Features> Using a robotic device (da Vinci) consisting of instruments manipulated by a physician and a three-dimensional endoscope, several holes of several centimeters in diameter are made in the lower abdomen, and the prostate gland is removed and excised. This procedure makes the operation more delicate and precise than conventional laparoscopic surgery because it provides a three-dimensional view and the surgical site can be magnified. It is a more delicate procedure than laparoscopic surgery, and it is also expected to restore postoperative urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Hospitalization days: 10 days Actual results: 836 cases (as of December 2022)
