Please contact us in advance if you would like to change your tests or examinations. Please take your prescribed medicines as usual, such as blood pressure medication or heart disease medication. On the day of your examination, please do not take diabetes medication (oral medicine for lowering blood sugar) or an insulin injection. If you are taking any other medications, please discuss them with your attending physician in advance.
Please notify the clinic if you use a pacemaker.
Please refrain from bringing children with you to the examination. Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter.
For women:
A urine test, a fecal occult blood test, and uterine cancer screening cannot be conducted during your menstrual period. If that is the case, please contact us by phone or other method to change your examination date. If having your examination during your menstrual period is unavoidable, make sure to bring a urine sample with you.
Women who are or may be pregnant may not receive the lung function examination, X-rays (chest, stomach, mammogram, CT), gastroscopy, or uterine cancer test. Please make sure to notify a staff member if this applies to you.
For those undergoing blood tests:
Eating may affect test results, so do not eat or drink before the blood test. Please refrain from excessive eating and drinking on the night before your examination (especially avoid excessive alcohol and fatty or oily foods).
For those receiving an abdominal ultrasound scan:
Eating may affect test results, so do not eat or drink for six hours prior to your exam. You may also be instructed to fast for other exams. If that is the case, please be sure to fast for the longer time required. Please refrain from excessive eating and drinking on the night before your examination (especially avoid excessive alcohol and fatty or oily foods).
For those having a lower abdominal ultrasound scan:
This scan is performed while the bladder is full of urine. Please do your best to avoid urinating prior to the scan.
For those having a gynecological exam or uterine cytology test:
Please avoid receiving these exams during your menstrual period in order to ensure accurate results. Women who are or may be pregnant may not receive these tests. Avoid vaginal douching as it could wash the cells away. Avoid sexual intercourse on the day before your examination.
For those receiving mammograms:
Make sure to notify the doctor or the radiology technician if you have a pacemaker or if you have had breast augmentation surgery.
On the day of the test, please notify a staff member if you are using antiperspirant spray or powder on your armpits. Aerosol particles can affect the imaging.
This exam applies pressure forcefully to the breasts. Women who are breastfeeding cannot undergo this exam because mammary glands during the breastfeeding period may result in inaccurate or misleading results.
Caution when receiving a gastroscopy:
–On the evening before your gastroscopy:
Finish your dinner by 9:00 p.m. Easily digestible foods are preferable.
Do not eat or drink anything (except water or tea) after 9:00 p.m. until after the examination.
–On the day of your gastroscopy:
Do not eat or drink anything on the day of your gastroscopy.
Those who are taking medicines should consult with their attending physician. If advised to continue taking your prescription, take it as early as possible after waking up that morning and with a small amount of water.
Please do not smoke.
We also conduct a transnasal endoscopy, where the endoscope is passed through your nasal passage.
–Caution after your gastroscopy:
The throat anesthesia will still be in effect for one hour following your test. There is a danger of choking if you eat or drink during this time. Please wait an hour, then try drinking a sip of water to check that you can swallow normally before eating.
You may eat normally unless otherwise instructed.
–When undergoing the gastroscopy:
Some people may feel a slight amount of pain or discomfort during the exam. We ask for your cooperation to do the following to help reduce the pain or discomfort.
Consciously relax your entire body (especially from the neck to the shoulders).
→You may experience discomfort and resistance if you tense your neck or shoulders when we move the scope.
If your mouth fills with saliva, let it drip out of your mouth without swallowing.
→Making the movement of swallowing may trigger a gag reflex or cause you to choke.
