Aortic Valve Surgery Without Prosthetic Valve Replacement [National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center]

National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center (NCVC)(Kinki/Osaka)
We perform aortic valve surgery without using prosthetic valves for patients with aortic valve disease under the age of 65.
For aortic valve disease, valve replacement surgery with prosthetic valves is the standard approach. However, in younger patients, complications related to prosthetic valves and decreased activities of daily living (ADL) cannot be ignored.
For aortic regurgitation, we perform aortic valve repair, and for aortic stenosis, we perform the Ross procedure. These procedures allow patients to maintain a high level of ADL over the long term without the need for lifelong medication post-surgery.
